U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry presented Russia’s foreign minister with two Idaho potatoes.
In a Jan. 13 meeting at the U.S. ambassador’s residence in Paris, Kerry gave the spuds to foreign minister Sergei Lavrov.
In a video of the meeting on YouTube, Kerry, sitting across the table from Lavrov, mentions that in a meeting two weeks earlier, Lavrov had talked about “famous Idaho potatoes.”
Kerry then opens a box and hands Lavrov what he calls “some of the biggest potatoes from Idaho.”
Lavrov then looks at the potatoes and says, “It’s impressive.”
