The support from these two farm groups shows the type of leadership we have in the ag community - NONE. These weak spined groups will not stand up to Boxer and Feinstein and tell them that their bills do nothing to help California's long term water issues. Why did'nt they get behind the bill from the house and support it. Shows that they are in bed with the Dems and really don't want to get anything done. Time for new leadership in the Ag areana.
Agreed Gary, a band-aid on a broken leg doesn't work all that well. While it is important to get through this year, to avoid staggering price increases on food, the focus needs to be much further down the road. The best long term solution I have heard is not relying on CA to support 75% of the nations domestic produce. Finding ways of utilizing the other 47 continental US states to support the produce needs of their communities, would surely help to reduce CA's need for water, instead of trying to find a way to squeeze it from a stone. Throwing money at the dried up fields is not going to make them any more moist.
