The Lakeland, Fla., microbiology laboratory of Chicago-based Silliker, Inc., has received the International Organization for Standardization accreditation 17025.
ISO 17025, the international standard, verifies that laboratory testing facilities comply with management and technical requirements, according to a news release.
The Lakeland laboratory’s accreditation evaluation was conducted by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation.
The Florida facility, opened last year, provides testing services to distributors, foodservice locations, manufacturers, processors and retailers.
These companies are required under the Food Safety Modernization Act to work with laboratories that use demonstrated testing efficiencies for specific analyses, according to the release.
“Having the utmost confidence in the integrity of analytical data is critical in supply chain management,” William Vernier, vice president of operations, said in the release. “We provide this brand assurance to customers by going above and beyond industry standards.”
