“When we opened the Peachtree City, Ga., plant in December 2009, that was a conscious decision to make sure we were meeting the needs of our East Coast customers,” said Kelly Kirschner, global marketing director.
Those needs have increased in the eastern U.S. and Canada in addition to Central America. To improve customer service, Sinclair has added Renee Minich, a customer service representative, to the Georgia staff, Kirschner said.
The Peachtree City manufacturing facility is the newest of Sinclair’s 11 global manufacturing plants and meets all of the requirements of the British Retail Consortium global packaging standard, she said, as do the company’s Fresno, Calif. and Wenatchee, Wash. plants.
The company also has increased its logistics and warehouse staffs at Sinclair’s Ft. Pierce, Fla. facility, Kirschner said. The East Coast expansions are aimed at blunting any misconception that Sinclair is just a network with its Fresno, headquarters as the base.
“We’re not just trying to increase our coverage by putting in label facilities, we’re adding customer service reps in key areas to stay close to our customers,” Kirschner said.
