UPDATED: Sirane releases new soft fruit packaging

(UPDATED COVERAGE, Feb. 20): A food packaging supplier is reporting high interest in its latest packaging introduction.

SiraneSirane Food Packaging, a division of the United Kingdom-based Sirane Ltd., is introducing Dri-fresh Resolve soft fruit packaging.

The packaging’s absorbent “Safe-hold” fruit bubble cushioning pads combine the cushioning and protective properties of bubble films with effective absorbency and high permeability and presentation, according to a news release.

The Safe-hold product is available with integrated ethylene absorbing and anti-fungal properties for extending shelf-life in all applications, she said in the release.

The technology accompanies Sirane’s Sira-flex Resolve films, its shelf-life-extending film for fresh produce.

Sirane commercially released those films which extend fruit and vegetable shelf life over the past year, according to the release.

Sirane officials report receiving high interest in the product at their booth at the Feb. 6-8 Fruit Logistica show in Berlin.
