Canadian grocery chain Sobeys has completed construction on a world record-setting display, featuring a total of 92,500 pounds of Prince Edward Island potatoes on Oct. 3 at its retail location in Charlottetown, Prince Edward.
Staffers at a Sobeys in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, created a potato display big enough to set an unoffical world record. The display sets an unofficial world record for potato displays by passing the previous record set in the U.S. of 80,000 pounds, according to a news release.
The display kicks off a five day sale on potatoes at this location, ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Sobeys hosted a barbeque on Oct. 3-4 to celebrate the record-setting display. The proceeds from the barbeque went to the Canadian Potato Museum, according to the release.
