Source Organic has begun receiving organic apples from New Zealand.
Santa Cruz, Calif.-based Source Organic will ship organic fujis, galas, granny smiths, Cripps pinks and braeburns from New Zealand through September, according to a company news release.
Fruit is shipping through California, Washington and New Jersey. Source Organic receives fruit from five New Zealand family farmers who pack under the Grateful Harvest label.
Source Organic imports organic apples, asparagus, bananas, citrus, tree fruit, avocados and other fruits and vegetables from New Zealand, Spain, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Guatemala and Mexico.
The company also sources domestically from California and Florida. In January, it announced a partnership with Plant City, Fla.-based Strawberry Passion Farms LLC to ship Florida-grown organic strawberries.
