The Southeast Produce Council donated more than 40,000 pounds of produce to the Society of St. Andrew after the Southern Exposure Conference in Tampa, Fla.

“The Society gleans millions of pounds of fresh produce every year in Florida but to have the chance to glean the premium food at the Southern Exposure Conference is a true blessing to the feeding agencies we distribute to,” Amanda Rich, Florida program coordinator for the Society of St. Andrew, said in a news release.

The society has donated more than 29 million pounds of fresh produce in Florida since the office opened there in 1995, according to the release.

The Gleaning Network and the Potato and Produce Project have helped make that amount possible.

The produce from the Southern Exposure donation was distributed to eight different feeding programs in the area, according to the release.
