The Pompano Beach, Fla.-based company expects to market Peruvian fruit into September, according to a July 18 news release.
“The hass avocado deal is a great fit for Southern,” Daryl Johnston, vice president of sales, said in the release. “As a leading grower-shipper of asparagus from Peru, we have vast experience in the region.”
Southern’s infrastructure is set up to handle products from Peru quickly and efficiently, Johnston said.
Southern sources avocados from western Peru, where sunshine is abundant and fields receive water from the Andes Mountains, according to the release.
