The specialty crop course set for Oct. 7-9 in Watsonville, Calif., will include sessions with the Center for Produce Safety, Ocean Mist Farms, Fresh Express, Floricultura, the Monterey County agricultural commissioner and others.
Visalia, Calif.-based AgBusiness Resources, which puts on Specialty Crop School classes, is offering this one to teach suppliers about the growers they service in the Salinas Valley.
Attendees will have discussions with growers, pest management experts, agronomists, financial experts, regulators and university scientists.
Field stops are planned for lettuce, cole crops, artichokes, strawberries, seed production and wine grapes.
The course aims to aid business strategies concerning new food safety, pest management, traceability and water requirements, and on meeting retailer demands, according to a news release.
