The addition of sales and sourcing personnel to the staff of New Limeco LLC aims to build the company’s Latin American fruit and vegetable business.
The Princeton, Fla.-based company added Farid Buendia and Denis Sever to the three-person sales staff May 19.
A 15-year produce sales veteran, Sever was most recently sales manager and buyer for Unity Groves Corp., Homestead, Fla., and before that was a salesman for New York-based S. Katzman Produce Inc. and Katzman Berry Corp.
Buendia worked in Miami and Ecuador for more than 15 years.
Eddie Caram, New Limeco’s general manager, declined to state the companies Buendia worked for, but said he sold tropicals for importing companies to retailers and wholesalers and grew his own product.
Sever brings chain store sales experience and Buendia, who is working from Miami and Ecuador, is helping bring different plantain varieties to New Limeco.
“The advanced knowledge we now have in Latin America will help increase our knowledge and expand to other items,” Caram said. “Some of these new sales people are bringing the possibility of carrying commodities we’ve never handled.”
New Limeco grows and ships avocados, limes, mangoes, papaya, root vegetables and other tropicals.
