Farley succeeds Mark Borman, president of Taylor Farms California, as chairman. Henry Dill, sales manager for Pacific International Marketing, was named vice chairman at the trade group’s annual meeting May 16.
Farley joined Coastal Berry Co. in the 1990s, later becoming chief executive officer there. With his partners he started Watsonville-based Sundance Berry Farms. Sundance merged with Andrew & Williamson in 2005.
“My role as the first strawberry growing and shipping chairperson furthers a goal that the board put in motion 10 years ago,” Farley said in a news release. “It’s important that we be responsible to all counties and commodities that we represent.”
The association broadened its bylaws in the late 1990s to include wine grapes and fruit crops.
Bob Antle of Tanimura & Antle was named the recipient of the annual E.E. Gene Harden Award for lifetime achievement in Central Coast agriculture. The award will be presented June 21 at the trade group’s annual gala.
