Sunkist Growers plans to offer mandarins and navel oranges in Sesame Street-themed packaging — part of the Eat Brighter! initiative — for its fall and winter citrus season.
Sesame Street characters and the Eat Brighter! tagline will appear on Giro bags of mandarins as well as a 10-pound carton of navels and a 4-pound polybag of navels.
Sunkist mandarins are available mid-October through April. Supply on the navels runs from November through June.
Eat Brighter! is a joint initiative of the Produce Marketing Association and the Sesame Workshop.
“Childhood obesity is a critical issue for our country, and we are proud to be working with PMA and Sesame Workshop to encourage families to eat healthier,” Sunkist vice president of sales and marketing Kevin Fiori said in a news release. “Like Sunkist, Sesame Street is a trusted family brand and we hope our collaboration will help generate consumer excitement about fresh citrus and the produce category as a whole.”
