Sunkist plans cocktails for PMA FoodserviceSunkist Growers plans to showcase meyer lemons in mixed drinks at the Produce Marketing Association Foodservice Conference and Expo July 25-27 in Monterey, Calif.

“We are pleased to be sharing two fresh mixology recipes that highlight the versatility of meyer lemons to trade,” Sunkist advertising and public relations manager Joan Wickham said in a news release.

Sunkist chef Robert Danhi will serve up drinks including a Sunkist Meyer Lemon-Rose Summer Splash cocktail and a nonalcoholic Sunkist Lemonade with Chinese dates and star anise.

Thought to be a cross between a mandarin orange and lemon, meyer lemons are sweeter than conventional lemons. The company supplies them year-round.

As part of the trade show’s new product showcase, the grower-shipper plans to feature Sunkist Family Stories. The multimedia storytelling project tells the stories of the California and Arizona families who make up the 120-year old citrus cooperative.

“Diners are increasingly aware of and interested in the stories behind their food,” Wickham said. “As a 120-year old cooperative with a rich history in California and Arizona, Sunkist has many powerful narratives that speak to who we are as a company and supplier — and we are excited to share those stories with the foodservice trade.”
