Sunlight International — the marketing arm of McFarland, Calif.-based Jakov P. Dulcich & Sons — is partnering with Harris Teeter and Pink Ribbon Produce on fundraising and education efforts backing the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Oct. 6 marks the start of Pink Ribbon Produce’s “Take the Fresh Plate Challenge,” which encourages consumers to fill half their plate with fruits and vegetables at each meal. The American Cancer Society recommends eating 2.5 cups or more of fruits and vegetables daily to lower cancer risk.
A portion of proceeds from sales of Sunlight grapes at Harris Teeter will benefit the foundation, according to a news release.
“As a family company, we know cancer can affect everyone in some way, as it has also taken our dear mother Antoinette Dulcich,” owner Nick Dulcich said in the release.
