The Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu sponsored the April 3 show at the Monroeville Convention Center.

“We want to provide a special welcome to all our customers,” said Mario Grana, Supervalu’s director of produce and floral category management for its Pittsburgh division in New Stanton. “It’s really gratifying to see so many of our customers here.”

Al Ignasky, a Supervalu produce operations specialist, said the wholesaler tries to present the show a little differently each year.

“I can’t count the number of people that are saying how good the show is,” he said. “We’re receiving good vendor support.”

Longtime exhibitor Kevin Hendrix, vice president of Hendrix Produce Inc., Metter, Ga., said the show is a good one for suppliers.

“It’s good to get to see some of Supervalu’s customers,” he said. “They get to meet the grower and are asking a lot of questions about when the Vidalias will start. It does seem like there’s a good many people here. Supervalu does a good job running this show.”

The show attracted customers from the other three distribution centers served by Supervalu’s Pittsburgh division: Lancaster, Mechanicsville, Va., and Milton, W. Va.
