SureHarvest, Soquel, Calif., has hired Melanie Beretti as part of the professional services staff.
Beretti has been involved with the central coast agriculture community for 15 years and worked on issues such as food safety, pesticide use, biotechnology, water quality and conservation, according to a news release.
Beretti “SureHarvest has realized an impressive vision and brought together a talented professional team that over the years has captured my attention,” Beretti said in the release. “SureHarvest will provide me an opportunity to apply my background to the development and implementation of client sustainability systems.”
Her most recent work is with Monterey County Agriculture Commissioner’s Office. While there she improved countywide service for growers and ranchers.
From 2000-09 Beretti worked for the Resource Conservation District of Monterey County. She was project manager there and later became program manager, according to the release.
Beretti was the founding member of the Agriculture Water Quality Alliance and in 2005 it earned the Governor’s Environmental, Economic leadership award.
“Melanie’s professional experience brings to SureHarvest a unique perspective and background to help us integrate sustainability principles within the agricultural business systems of our clients,” said Cliff Ohmart, SureHarvest vice president of professional services in the release.
