Syngenta Seeds names president, region director

Ponsi TrivisvavetTrivisvavetPonsi Trivisvavet has been named president of Syngenta Seeds Inc. and a region director for North America.

She succeeds David Morgan, now global head of vegetables and based in Basel, Switzerland. Trivisvavet, based in Minnetonka, Minn., and region director Vern Hawkins share responsibility for Syngenta’s North American business.

Previously she was head of Syngenta’s Southeast Asia territory, leading agricultural business operations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Trivisvavet managed development projects targeting increased productivity of corn, rice, specialty crops and vegetables.

“Ponsi brings a wealth of strategic and commercial operating experience, along with broad knowledge of the seeds business, to her new role in North America,” Davor Pisk, Syngenta chief operating officer, said in a news release. “During the time she led our business across Southeast Asia, the region experienced strong sales growth.”

Trivisvavet joined Syngenta in 2008. Previously she was with McKinsey & Co. in the U.S., Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Asia.

Prior to her Southeast Asia role, Trivisvavet worked in Basel as the global head for the corn crop unit. She led development of Syngenta’s global corn strategy and managed the corn portfolio including seeds, traits, crop protection and new assets. She was responsible as well for developing biotechnology traits strategy, including traits licensing agreements across all crops.
