Stone joined Syngenta in 2005 as senior regulatory affairs manager, and became sustainability value chain manager four years later. In 2011, he was named sustainability value chain lead in North America. Last year, he became industry relations lead for water optimization and biofuels.
Earlier experience included work for Monsanto as a senior research biologist and other roles. In 2003, he joined The Scotts Co. as director of biotechnology regulatory affairs.
In his new role, Stone is responsible for integrating Syngenta’s growth plan into its vegetables and specialty crops businesses in North America, according to a news release.
The plan consists of six commitments to address the global food security challenge through boosting resource efficiency, rejuvenating ecosystems and strengthening rural communities.
Stone will continue to serve as a sustainability resource within the company.
“His additional strengths in multi-stakeholder collaborations, regulatory affairs and plant biotechnology are strong assets for our industry relations team,” Rex Martin, head of external relations for Syngenta in North America, said in the release.
