Tanimura & AntleTanimura & Antle has added quick-response codes to its foodservice products for the first time, introducing them on cases of its field-packed Artisan lettuce and Artisan romaine.

The Salinas, Calif.-based grower-shipper has previously used such codes on retail produce to link consumers to recipes, shopping lists and harvest videos.

The new codes link to videos on the growing process and to foodservice-specific preparation tips.

“This is an effective way for us to take advantage of real-time technology to help our foodservice partners tell the story of these unique products and their exceptional value and menu versatility to the culinary professional,” Diana McClean, director of marketing, said in a news release.

Artisan lettuce and romaine are available in 8-pound and 24-count case sizes for foodservice year-round.

Other uses of scannable codes at Tanimura & Antle include PTI-compliant traceability case labels. Its Kwikloc iceberg comes with a code allowing traceback of each head of lettuce, a feature introduced three years ago.
