The Ontario Food Terminal in Toronto is planning its “Taste of the Food Terminal” to help increase public awareness of the terminal’s role.
The May 25 event is designed to show the general public the role the terminal’s wholesalers play in sourcing and delivering fruits, vegetables and horticultural products to the region’s restaurants, independent grocers and others.
“Despite the important role the terminal plays in creating the vibrant spirit of our neighborhoods, the general public has little knowledge of this,” according to a news release.
The event is designed to allow the public to learn more about the market from wholesalers, growers, specialty green grocers and chefs.
The event also plans to raise funds for FoodShare Toronto, a charity that purchases fresh produce to feed healthy meals to more than 144,000 Toronto school children.
