Tasteful Selections moves to bigger shedSpecialty potato shipper Tasteful Selections is moving to a larger packinghouse.

Tasteful Selections, which ships year-round from the Bakersfield, Calif., area, expects to open its new 200,000-square-foot facility in Bakersfield in late November, according to a news release from Bancroft, Wis.-based RPE Inc., one of the three partners in Tasteful Selections.

The other partners are Watertown, S.D.-based CSS Farms Inc. and Stevens Point, Wis.-based Plover River Farms Inc.

The new packinghouse, which is dedicated to grading and packaging Tasteful Selections potatoes, has 12 packing lines, four more than the previous facility.

The new shed also will double Tasteful Selections’ washing capacity. In addition, the facility will have more shipping docks and improved refrigeration and storage.

All water used in the packinghouse will be reused to wash more potatoes or diverted to nearby farmland.

“The amount of success we have experienced with Tasteful Selections is unprecedented,” Russell Wysocki, RPE’s president and CEO, said in the news release. “Because of the constantly increasing consumer demand, the new expanded facility in Bakersfield was needed to help us meet the needs and fill the orders of all our customers.”
