Tasti Lee tomatoes will sport the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check food certification logo.

The Tasti Lee is a hybrid round beefsteak-style tomato developed at the University of Florida and is marketed by Bejo Seeds Inc.

The tomatoes have 50% more lycopene compared to standard tomato varieites, according to a news release.

The Heart-Check mark is designed to alert consumers that a food product meets the nutritional standards of the American Heart Association to promote healthy eating habits.

Deardorff Family Farms, the West Coast grower for Tasti Lee, plans to introduce organic Tasti Lee tomatoes in August, according to the release.
