Sweet potato specialist Tater Man, which began shipping new-crop cured sweet potatoes Aug. 15, will pack in a new consumer bag this season.
The three-pound retail bag will be shipped 12 to a box, Mark Vertrees, the Dover, Fla.-based company’s marketing director, said in a news release.
Most of Tater Man’s sweet potatoes are grown in northern Florida and southern Georgia and packed under the Suwanee River label. The company began growing in Florida three years ago to take advantage of an early-season marketing niche.
Tater Man also ships sweet potatoes grown in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. The company markets product grown on about 800 acres.
Tater Man expects to wrap up its Florida and Georgia harvests by Sept. 15.
