Salinas, Calif.-based Taylor Farms Foodservice has launched a new product line, Schoolservice, aimed at the school market.
The line’s salad mixes and fresh-cut products for children include:
- Freestylers Sesame Ginger Slaw Mix;
- Freestylers Caesar Salad Mix; and
- Sol-O’s Cinnamon Dusted Carrot Chips.
The company is also negotiating with national foodservice distributors for custom-branded offerings, according to a news release. It expects to announce details on partnerships by the end of the second quarter.
Taylor Farms offers a Schoolservice website. The site will be updated with new products and student-tested recipes and menu options.
The line is labeled, sized and packaged to conform to serving requirements of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program. The program provides school districts reimbursement for school lunches. Taylor Farms also provides online data on the National School Lunch Program and a calculator for school planners.
The products are the result of nutritional research and focus group testing among school children, according to the release.
