Appa Fine Foods, Corona, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 92,657 pounds of cooked chicken Caesar salad kits distributed at Sam’s Club after Michigan officials reported two retail samples tested positive for listeria.
The ingredient involved was diced chicken, said Thom Rindt, spokesman for Appa Fine Foods. No illnesses have been reported.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported the test findings to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The recalled products are in 11-ounce clear plastic containers and 6.5-pound boxes labeled Appa Fine Foods/Sam’s Club Daily Chef Chicken Caesar Salad Kit. Case codes are 141851, 141922, 141951, 141991, 142021, 142201 or 142131 with use-by dates of Aug. 14, 21, and 27; and Sept. 1, 3 or 17. Box labels have the establishment number P-21030 inside the USDA inspection mark.
The kits were produced on several dates in July and August and distributed nationwide.
