Specialty grocer The Fresh Market will close four stores, three of them in Sacramento, Calif.

The Greensboro, N.C.-based company made the announcement March 6 in its fourth quarter and 2013 earnings conference call, according to a Fresh Market news release.

The fourth store to close is in Houston.

In the fourth quarter of 2013, operating losses and expenses at the four stores totaled $2.7 million. For the year, losses and expenses totaled $6.9 million.

The stores are expected to close “within the next week,” according to the March 6 announcement.

In the fourth quarter, The Fresh Market’s net sales increased 15% to $426 million and comparable store sales increased 3%. Net income for the quarter was $2 million, down from $21 million.
