The FruitGuys recently earned certification from California Certified Organic Farmers as an organic handler.

A provider fresh fruits and vegetables direct to consumers’ workplaces, homes and schools nationwide, the San Francisco-based company has already met the National Organic Standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for part of its operations, according to a news release.

Distribution hubs in San Francisco and Phoenix have the USDA organic seal and hubs in Chicago and Philadelphia are nearing USDA organic certification, founder and chief executive officer Chris Mittelstaedt said in the news release.

“The FruitGuys mission to provide nutritious, wholesome produce to all walks of life across the nation and support small farmers and their sustainable stewardship has led us to this certification by CCOF,” Mittelstaedt said in the release.

The company works with a network of more than 200 local and regional growers across the country to provide fresh produce for the boxes The FruitGuys staff delivers weekly.
