Reinauer begins his duties as president on March 19. He has been with Amerifresh Food Services of America, Scottsdale, Ariz., for 22 years, most recently serving as senior vice president.
Phil Gumpert, chairman and chief executive officer of Tom Lange, has been serving as president of the company since 2000.
Mike Smith, executive vice president for Tom Lange, said separating the president position and hiring Reinauer for the job will expand the company’s capabilities.
“We needed additional youthful help,” Smith said March 13. “We did an extensive, nationwide search. It took us about a year.”
Denny Domagala, president and chief executive officer of Amerifresh, declined to comment March 12 on Reinauer leaving the Scottsdale-based company.
Smith said Tom Lange officials expect Reinauer will spend his first two to three months at the company getting to know the people and policies. After that his duties will expand as he becomes more familiar with the various aspects of the business.
The employee-owned company specializes in fresh produce distribution, and serves retailers, wholesalers and the foodservice sector. Tom Lange Co. also has a logistics division. Smith said “upwards of 15% to 20%” of the company’s business is in the international arena.
“Greg will be working on growth across the board with all of our programs,” Smith said.
Gumpert said in a news release that Reinauer’s experience with growers, retailers, wholesalers and the foodservice sector gives him an excellent perspective to immediately begin leading Tom Lange Co.
Reinauer said in the news release that Tom Lange’s more than 50 years of proven success was one of the factors that in his decision to leave Amerifresh after 22 years.
