New fresh-cut fruit snack cups from the Tom Lange Co. are scheduled to be introduced for nationwide sale under the brand Actual Produce at Fresh Summit.

Described by the company as a “grab and go” item, the fruit cups are set to be featured in the new products showcase at the Produce Marketing Association’s show Oct. 17-19 in Anaheim, Calif. The product is already available at select Target stores in a limited number U.S. markets.

Bre Engle, company spokeswoman, said the cups will be available in six varieties: mango, strawberry-kiwi, strawberry-mango, mango-pomegranate, pineapple and grape. The fresh-cut, 5-ounce containers are designed to be stocked in refrigerated cases in the produce aisle, Engle said.

Tom Lange Co., Springfield, Ill., launched the Actual Produce label as the lead brand for its “Foods with Benefits” strategic plan, according to a news release. The company developed the Actual Produce brand to help retailers respond to industry trends and consumer demands for fresh, healthy and convenient foods.

Fruit in the Actual Produce single-serve cups is washed and cut by at regional locations to help ensure maximum freshness, according to the release. The containers are made of recycled resin and feature a label with a smiling face to reinforce the positive aspects of eating fresh fruit.
