The Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association plans to take its message to the streets with a rolling billboard dubbed the Spudmobile, but it needs a little help with the wrapper.
A consumer contest for graphic designs for the wrap to be applied to the outside of the recreational vehicle launched April 1, according to a news release from the Antigo-based association.
The top three designs will each win a $1,000 cash prize. Entries should be submitted on the official template available at the contest website: wisconsinspudmobile.com. The entry deadline is May 13. Winners are scheduled to be announced June 2.
“(We) will use the Spudmobile to promote the quality potato and vegetables that are grown in Wisconsin, and educate people about the health benefits potatoes offer,” association promotions director Dana Rady said in the news release.
“The WPVGA will also use the Spudmobile to promote buying local, … (which) ensures that people are receiving quality food that doesn’t have to travel thousands of miles to get to a family’s plate.”
All designs should be “family friendly” according to the Spudmobile website, and include potatoes, with a focus on the field-to-fork journey. Other suggestions for would-be designers include using the Web address www.eatwisconsinpotatoes.com and playing up the buy local concept, according to the contest website.
