Representatives of Sacramento, Calif.-based foodservice distributor Trinity Fresh visited a pair of area schools for classroom sessions on the food supply chain.
At Roseville High School, marketing manager Danee Brady discussed food safety, procurement, and handling and temperature requirements with students in a culinary program.
Trinity Fresh also sponsored part of a new school garden at Edna Batey Elementary in Elk Grove. The distributor funded supplies that included park benches convertible into desks. Trinity Fresh plans to help coordinate a Farm to Fork dinner at the garden later in the school year.
The distributor is a longtime supporter of Farm to Fork and advocate of using local produce in restaurants.
“Our hope is that they understand a little more about where they food comes from,” Brady said in a news release.
