The goal of the Garden Exchange is to develop cultural understanding among global youth.

The Garden Exchange plans to do this by getting children of different countries to interact with one another.

The first Garden Exchange has paired students at Tamaques Elementary School in Westfield, N.J., with students at Churido Pueblo School in Uraba, Colombia.

The Colombian school’s gardening program is supported by Fundauniban.Students at both schools will tend to a garden and share their experiences with one another by communicating in both English and Spanish.

All the activities in which the schools will participate are intended to promote healthy food choices, gardening, and learning about new cultures.
