While the Vienna, Va.-based association continues to look for a permanent successor to Nancy Foster, Diane Kurrle will serve as interim leader, according to a U.S. Apple news release.
Kurrle is the group’s vice president of public affairs.
“Kurrle is well prepared to lead the association through this transition process,” U.S. Apple’s chairman, Chris Britton, said in the release.
Foster’s departure from the association was announced in late July. At the time, Britton said that Foster’s contract was not renewed but that the separation was amicable.
Also in July, the association said it hoped to have a new leader in place as early as September.
Foster left U.S. Apple at the end of August.
The search committee for a new president/chief executive officer consists of Bill Dodd, immediate past chairman of the board of U.S. Apple and president of Fruit Growers Marketing Association, Newcomerstown, Pa.; Mark Nicholson of Red Jacket Orchards, Geneva, N.Y.; John Rice, vice president of Gardners, Pa.-based Rice Fruit Co.; and Julia Rothwell of Belding Fruit Storage, Grand Rapids, Mich.
