Idaho and Oregon onion growers will settle a border rivalry on the grill at the USA Onion Grill Off. The Nov. 16 competition, sponsored by USA Onions, precedes the Boise State versus Wyoming game at the Ford Fan Zone of Bronco Stadium in Boise.
Idaho and Oregon onion-grower teams will grill their own versions of the featured “Onions and Elk” dish. Weber Grill Master Kevin Kolman will oversee the competition, offering grilling tips and techniques to the crowd throughout the event. Grilled onion samples and a Weber grill giveaway will also be offered to tailgaters.
“This is the fifth in a series of six Grill Offs the Committee hosts at Boise State Bronco home games. It is one of our most highly anticipated events because of Weber Grill Master Kolman’s participation,” said USA Onions marketing director, Sherise Jones, in a news release. “Kolman is an expert in his field and what better way to highlight USA Onions than with his guest appearance,”
In anticipation for the Grill Off, Kolman is touring Southwestern Idaho and Eastern Oregon to learn about growing and storage practices. His campaign in the Northwest and appearance at the Grill Off come from his experience in all areas of grilling. Kolman promotes the Weber brand through his informational videos and blog posts that teach grilling enthusiasts how to master their own grills.
