In recognition of the 2014 Pear Retailer of the Year, the Milwaukie, Ore.-based Pear Bureau Northwest will host a happy hour and “wine-pearing” from 3:30-5 p.m., Oct. 18, at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in Anaheim, Calif.

The marketing order, which promotes under the USA Pears brand, will name its retailer of the year at 3 p.m., according to a news release. This year, it is Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Supermarkets.

Following the award, attendees can stop by booth 2838 to meet the group’s pear experts, learn about pear varieties and ripening, and enjoy a glass of wine.
