The U.S. Department of Agriculture has scheduled two Web seminars to brief retailers and other members of the trade on country of origin labeling requirements.
The seminars, set for Sept. 21 and 29, will be hosted by Julie Lewis, acting chief of the Country of Origin Labeling Branch of the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.
The seminars will be two hours long and will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

The USDA’s country of origin labeling retail compliance data for fiscal year 2009 and 2010 can be found on the USDA website. The USDA said COOL retail reviews were conducted in 5,003 retail stores in 2009, and that increased to 8,363 stores in 2010.
