The U.S. Department of Agriculture has sanctioned five produce businesses after they failed to pay Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act reparation awards.

The businesses are:

 

  • Benchmark Distributing Inc., Castroville, Calif., for failing to pay $17,108 to a California seller. The responsibly connected officer is Chris Thomas.
  • Edgar Barajas, doing business as Premier Fresh, Whittier, Calif., for failing to pay $208,328 to a California seller. The sole responsibly connected proprietor is Edgar Barajas.
  • Cesar Lopez, doing business as RCS Lopez Mango Imp., Chula Vista, Calif., for failing to pay $19,890 to a California seller. The sole responsibly connected proprietor is Cesar Lopez.
  • Andrew Depoala Mushrooms Inc., Glascony, N.Y., for failing to pay $188,263 to a Pennsylvania seller. The sole responsibly connected officer is Gabriel Depoala.
  • Luis Castillo, doing business as Castillo Produce, Plant City, Fla., for failing to pay $14,873 to a Florida seller. The sole responsibly connected proprietor is Luis Castillo.
