The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions on two produce companies for failure to pay reparation awards issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act, according to a USDA news release.

The following businesses and individuals are currently barred from operating in the industry:

  • Manatee Logistics Inc., Palmetto, Fla., for failing to pay a $5,600 award in favor of a North Carolina seller. Donald Croslyn was listed as the responsibly connected individual.
  • Watermelons Inc., Howell, N.J., for failing to pay a $19,318 award in favor of a North Carolina seller. Charles Pagano was listed as the responsibly connected individual.

Sanction lifted

Robert Marinaro, doing business as Sunny Fresh Citrus, has satisfied a reparation order issued under PACA, according to a USDA news release.

The Vero Beach, Fla.-based company can resume operations in the produce industry upon applying for and being issued a PACA license. Robert Marinaro was listed as the sole proprietor of the business and may now be employed by or affiliated with any PACA licensee.
