USDA suspends Anshin Produce's PACA license

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has suspended Anshin Produce Co.’s license after it failed to pay for nearly $300,000 in produce.

The Los Angeles-based company lost its Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act license for two years after it failed to pay $289,998 to eight sellers for 75 lots of produce.

The responsibly connected principals are Peggi Ortiz, Jay McWaters and Lisa McWaters.

The USDA also sanctioned seven produce businesses for failing to satisfy PACA reparation awards.

The businesses are:

  • Empire Produce USA LLC, McAllen, Texas, for failing to pay $20,400 to a Texas seller. The responsibly connected individual is Motaz Hassan.
  • F&F Business Management Services Inc., Vernon, Calif., for failing to pay $28,482 to a California seller. The responsibly connected individual is Farshad Hedayati.
  • Jeff Chapin, doing business as Mid-State Marketing, Paso Robles, Calif., for failing to pay $17,248 to a Washington seller. The responsibly connected individual is Chapin.
  • Kenneth Shurte, doing business as Inspectors Choice, Payette, Idaho, for failing to pay $18,032 to a Wisconsin seller. The responsibly connected individual is Shurte, listed as the sole proprietor of the business.
  • Mi Supermercado 2 LLC, doing business as Bravo Supermarket, Fort Myers, Fla., for failing to pay $8,133 to a Florida seller. The responsibly connected individual is Oqab Abuoqab.
  • Inocencio Perez, doing business as CHP Produce, Monterey Park, Calif., for failing to pay $12,081 to a California seller. The responsibly connected individual is Perez, the sole proprietor of the business.
  • Portland Fruit Co Inc., Portland, Ore., for failing to pay $30,505 to an Oregon seller. The responsibly connected individual is Ronald Morrow.
