The American Society of Association Executives is honoring the United Fresh Produce Association’s United Fresh Start Foundation with the 2014 ASAE Power of A Summit Award. According to a news release, the award is the highest association industry honor, to recognize “the association community’s valuable contributions on the local, national and global level.” The United Fresh foundation earned the award for efforts in the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign.
“Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools is a great example of the transformative impact associations have on society,” ASAE president and CEO John H. Graham IV said in a news release. “Congratulations to United for identifying a need and putting their resources to work in a way that benefits students and society at large.”
The campaign provides salad bars to school lunch programs through donor initiatives. More than 250 produce companies, businesses, and foundations participate in the campaign, providing salad bars and fresh produce offerings to more than two million students in 3,500 schools, according to the release.
