(UPDATED COVERAGE, Sept. 17) The newest generation of family ownership is the chief executive officer of Urschel Laboratories Inc. U.S.A.
The Valparaiso, Ind.-based food processing equipment maker’s board of directors has promoted Rick Urschel from vice president of operations to president and chief executive officer.
Bob Urschel, the company’s president and CEO for the past 30 years, plans to remain actively involved with the company as its chairman of the board as his son, Rick Urschel, takes control, according to a news release.
“As I pass the leadership of the company on to Rick, I am fully confident in his abilities as the new president and CEO of Urschel Laboratories,” Bob Urschel said in the release.
Representing the fourth generation of Urschel family involvement, Rick Urschel began working for the company in 1991.
He possesses a “full working knowledge of every department within the company, and a passion for technology, he embraces the legacy of carrying on in the footsteps of the Urschel family of innovators,” Urschel officials stated in the release.
Urschel manufactures high-capacity slicers, dicers, shredders and other equipment for the fresh produce and other food industries.
