California grower-shippers will offer field and facility tours at the Ventura County Sustainability Exchange, a two-day event leading up to the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit in Anaheim.

The Oct. 15-16 tours will highlight their sustainability practices. Participants will tour Ventura County operations of Limoneira, Calavo Growers, San Miguel Produce, Agromin, and Houweling’s Tomatoes.

In Santa Paula Oct. 15 at the Limoneira and Calavo headquarters, guests will tour solar facilities, learn about waste management and high density planting. A dinner featuring local produce will be served by chef Jason Collis after a performance by comedian Patrick Martin.

Speakers will include Kathleen Phillips, supply chain sustainability manager for Pro*Act; and Bonnie Weigel, president of Food Share Inc.

Oct. 16 tours will include Houweling’s Tomatoes, San Miguel Produce and Agromin. Deardorff Family Farms, Driscoll’s and Cool Planet are also among the sponsors.
