Crowley Maritime Corp.’s liner services group has entered into a vessel sharing agreement to improve weekly service on larger ships between south Florida and Central America.

Crowley Maritime The Jacksonville, Fla.-based Crowley is partnering with Miami-based Seaboard Marine Ltd., to provide a consistent service to Costa Rica and Panama that’s scheduled to begin in late November.

The service includes ships making weekly calls at Crowley’s Port Everglades, Fla., and Seaboard’s Port of Miami terminals before sailing to Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, and Panama’s Colon and Manzanillo ports.

Every week, a vessel plans to load in Miami and Port Everglades for Friday departures and in Puerto Limon on Tuesdays, Manzanillo on Wednesdays and in Colon on Thursdays before departing north from Puerto Limon on Saturdays, according to a news release.

“Our cooperation in this trade lane will allow us to continue to provide … service to our customers while remaining competitive in the ever-changing market,” Steve Collar, Crowley’s senior vice president and general manager of Latin America services, said in the release. “Our combined service will provide the fastest transits in the market to and from Costa Rica.”

In the change, Seaboard plans to move all of its vessels that serve Panama to Manzanillo International Terminals, according to the release.

Crowley Liner Services is a subsidiary of Crowley Maritime Corp.
