The Vidalia Onion Committee has extended the application deadline for its marketing order manager’s position to Sept. 13.
The position, previously called executive director, has been vacant since Wendy Brannen left in April to become director of consumer health and public relations at the U.S. Apple Association, Vienna, Va.
“It’s actually the same position, but we decided to use a title that we’ve used in the past. We’re open to changing the title, but that’s something the (committee) will address at a later date with the appropriate person,” said committee president Kevin Hendrix, vice president of Hendrix Produce, Metter, Ga.
Hendrix said Aug. 26 that staff was still sorting through applications and they did not yet know how many applicants they had for the position. He said the committee extended the deadline so additional candidates could apply. The original deadline was Aug. 15.
Duties of the marketing order manager include “developing, implementing and supporting marketing and promotional efforts of the (committee),” according to the job posting. Requirements for the position include two year’s marketing experience or equivalent college coursework.
Applications should be mailed to: Selection Committee, P.O. Box 1609, (or 100 Vidalia Sweet Onion Drive), Vidalia, Ga. 30475.
Faxed and e-mailed applications will not be considered.
