Having served on the board of directors for Village Farms International Inc. since 1998, Heinz Wehner is retiring, effective July 31.
Details on how and when Wehner will be replaced were not included in the company news release that announced his retirement plans.
“The board of directors and management of Village Farms wish to extend their thanks to Mr. Wehner for his guidance and contributions to the development and growth of Village Farms over the last 18 years and wish him all the best in his retirement,” according to the news release.
Wehner served on the audit and compensation committees for the village Farms board. Before joining the village Farms board he worked in management positions with Chemagro Corp. and Mobay Corp., both subsidiaries of Bayer A.G. in Germany and, most recently, Bayer Corp., where he served as president of the Agricultural, Animal Health and Consumer Products Divisions.
