Village Farms International has been recognized for its environmentally responsible practices by the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Standard & Poor’s stock index.

The Delta, British Columbia-based greenhouse vegetable grower was one of 53 companies to have its stock chosen for the exchange and index’s Clean Technology Index, according to a Village Farms news release.

Companies were chosen based on their use of renewable energy and low-impact materials and products and energy efficiency and waste reduction. Village Farms was recognized specifically for its use low-impact materials and products.

Village Farms’ latest environmentally-friendly project is a new greenhouse in Monahans, Texas, built using the company’s proprietary GATES technology and other clean technologies.
