Marshall Sherman has returned to WP Rawl to head the company’s food safety programs.
Sherman, who has extensive experience in farming operations, plant and operations management and produce distribution, joins the Pelion, S.C.-based WP Rawl as director of food safety and quality assurance.
From 2001-08, he was general manager of the company.
In his new role, Sherman directs and implements food safety and quality programs from field operations to outside vendors, according to a news release.
He was director of operations at The Garden Wholesale Produce Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., and was general manager at San Miguel Produce in Oxnard, Calif., according to the release.
Sherman’s return reflects the company’s growth over the last five years, Ashley Rawl, vice president of sales, marketing and product development, said in the release.
“Bringing Marshall back as director of food safety is a huge bonus for us,” Rawl said in the release. “He did an outstanding job for us as general manager and we have no less of an expectation for his new role.”
Sherman also was a manager for Apio Inc., Guadalupe, Calif., and Bix Produce Co., St. Paul, Minn.
