The 108th annual meeting of the Washington Horticultural Association, Postharvest Conference and NW Hort Expo will be in Yakima, Wash., Dec. 3-5.
This year’s general session, Dec. 3, will focus on the importance of succession planning for the next generation.
West Mathison of Stemilt Growers, Wenatchee, Wash., and Robert Kershaw of Domex Superfresh Growers, Yakima, will be part of a panel addressing succession planning of vertically integrated operations.
Jolene Brown, a West Branch, Iowa, grower and expert on farm succession planning, will present the keynote lecture titled, “Stop the Fighting on the Way to the Funeral Home.”
Dec. 4-5 will feature concurrent educational break-out sessions on tree fruit pest control, orchard development, governmental affairs, organics, cherries, pears, post-harvest and food safety. Some sessions also will be presented in Spanish.
All educational sessions will be in the Yakima Convention Center.
A trade show, featuring more than 200 vendors, will be Dec. 3-4 in the SunDome in conjunction with the annual meeting. Admission is free.
