Twenty-one industry members met with legislators and agency officials to discuss issues affecting the industry, according to a news release from the Moses Lake-based Washington State Potato Commission.

The minimum wage, tax preferences, transportation, water quality and energy were among the topics covered.

Participating agency officials included Maia Bellon, the state’s ecology director; Bud Hover, director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture; and Cam Gilmour, deputy secretary of the Washington State Department of Transportation.

At a lunch for lawmakers and officials, the potato industry served about 1,400 baked potatoes at a potato bar.
